  2. Dress in 80s fashion: Encourage your guests to dress in 80s-inspired clothing, such as neon colors, leg warmers, and big hair.
  3. Decorate with 80s memorabilia: Hang up posters of 80s movies and TV shows, and use neon colors to decorate the room.
  4. Serve 80s-inspired food and drinks: Think neon colored Jell-O shots, sliders, and neon colored drinks like the famous “Zombie” cocktail.
  5. Have a “Back to the Future” movie screening: This is a classic 80s movie that everyone will love.
  6. Have an “80s Trivia” game: Test your guests’ knowledge of 80s pop culture and music.
  7. Have an “80s Dance-off”: Set up a dance floor and play popular 80s dance hits like “Billie Jean” by Michael Jackson and “Dancing in the Dark” by Bruce Springsteen.
  8. Have a “Fashion Show” of 80s clothing: Encourage guests to show off their 80s-inspired outfits.

  10. Have a photo booth with 80s-themed props: Take pictures of guests in their 80s-inspired outfits and with 80s-themed props.

Personally I love the 80s Prom theme and movie themes. There are a lot of good ideas and ways to go. Can’t wait to see your creativity on your next 80s party.

4 Tips for Finding the Perfect Live Music Venue

4 Tips for Finding the Perfect Live Music Venue

Know Your Audience

If you’re planning a big event, consider how much space you need to accommodate your guests. You should also think about whether you want to host an indoor or outdoor event. Indoor events tend to be more intimate than outdoor ones, so you might want to choose one based on the number of people who will attend.

Choose an Environment that Suits You

A good place to start when choosing a location for your next event is by considering the environment you’d prefer to work with. Do you enjoy being outdoors? Or do you prefer a quieter setting? Think about the type of event you’ll be hosting as well. Will it require a lot of equipment? Is there a particular theme you’d like to incorporate into the event?

Be Prepared

If you’re planning an outdoor event, make sure you have enough space to accommodate everyone who will attend. You should also consider how much shade you need during the day and whether you’ll need to bring in additional lighting at night.

Don’t Forget About Food and Drink

It’s not just about the music; food and drink are essential parts of any good party. Make sure you have plenty of food and drinks available so guests can enjoy themselves without worrying about running out.

Don’t Be Afraid to Ask Questions

If you’re planning an event, make sure you ask questions up front. You’ll need to know how much space you have, whether there’s enough parking, and whether you’ll need permits. Also, find out if there will be security at the door, who will be responsible for cleaning up after the event, and if you’ll need to pay extra for additional services.

80s cover band Flashback Heart Attack - Headlining the OC Live Concert Series

80s cover band Flashback Heart Attack is honored to be selected to headline the OC Live Concert series. This is going to be a great event! These family friendly shows that were scheduled for the fall will take place around local venues May 10th through the 15th. Flashback Heart Attack plays Sunday May 15th at the Newport Dunes.

Story by Kelli Skye Fadroski below.

To aid local musicians and small businesses hit the hardest during the coronavirus pandemic, OC Board of Supervisors Second District Supervisor Katrina Foley has partnered with area artists and venues to welcome back live music with the OC Live Concert Series.

The events will take place May 10-15 at multiple venues, including Dick Church’s Restaurant and Strut Bar & Club in Costa Mesa, with the weekend concerts taking over The Dunes in Newport Beach.

“I’ve long been an advocate for the arts in Orange County and during COVID I watched as many of our musicians and our arts venues and artists that depend on fundraisers for their revenue just get hammered,” Foley said during a recent phone interview.

When the county received money from the American Rescue Plan last year, each supervisor was allocated $1 million to support the arts in their district. Foley said she spent a portion offering grants to local dance schools, but also wanted to help the struggling musicians and smaller bars and restaurants that foster Orange County’s robust music scene.
